Do you ever look out at your garden from indoors and wish the views from the windows were nicer, rather than only noticing how it looks when you are out there in the middle of it?

Can you sit indoors and look out onto a good chunk of your garden or can you only see it if you stand at a window?

Through the cold months and the wet days what do you look out at?  If your snowdrops are right down at the end of the garden do you ever see them?

This is the view from the back bedroom window

This month I’m showing photos of the garden taken from the doorways and the windows of the house and maybe you can think about your views right now and how you would like to improve them.

The terracotta parasol dominates the garden and is from Amazon – Hardwood Garden Parasol Umbrella

The garage and trees are in someone else’s garden.  Our boundary is the ivy fence.  The brick paving is looking lovely as I’ve just scrubbed it and you can read about my futile attempts to keep it looking like this here

    Views from the front windows

Sitting in the little boxroom over the front door I can see the front path and the street.  I keep my binoculars to hand should I see anything interesting. (joke)

I can lean out the window and wave as people come down the path.

From the front bedroom I look down onto the main bit of the front garden.  We have an 11 metre front path and garden which is unusual in London and gives us a lot of planting opportunity in the front.

The windows by the front door give me this view

and from the living room window, this view

And lastly when I come down in the morning to find this view at the back door it always lifts my heart and makes me smile.

    Breakfast time.

I hope this has made you think about the views of your garden from all your widows.  If you would like my monthly blogs to come as an email, please put your address in the box above.

Lovely views. I once had the thought of a group of watercolor paintings as a view from my windows. Maybe I should re capture that thought.

Inspiring! Just got to clean my windows…(apparently though long tailed tits come and peck off the spiders webs to make their silken nests! Hanging back for that…just in case.) Your views are great fun with the orange brolly 👍🧡🌞

Oh I would definitely not want to clean away any webs the birds use – how lovely that they do that. Thanks for the comment and I am happy to have found your blog and just enjoyed reading about your frogspawn etc. So nice to read others’ blogs. best wishes, julie

My experience of people like landscapers is that they don’t necessarily think of how things look from the inside. But looking out from in is probably the most common way to see your garden!

It is a while since I did a series of views from the windows. It was three years ago, I am certain, for I was confined to the house following a hip-replacement operation! It was an interesting little project. I must say that I enjoy the view from where I sit in the livingroom.

Thank you for this really good idea. I am about to move house and will consider the views from inside when I make my new garden.
