I’m sitting here in my London cottage garden enjoying the silence of the city today so here are six garden photos with no chat in between.

container gardening in a London cottage garden

Dicentra looking fabulous in its pot. A surprising success.

garden furniture in a cottage garden

The umbrella and the chairs come out of the shed – it must be Spring.

tulips in containers in a cottage garden

Tulips all red and orange in the front garden

spring bulbs daffodils in a cottage garden

Late season daffodils so still flowering in mid April

    London cottage garden in spring

Perennials have all gone mad – not an inch to spare

    cottage garden tulips

Little species tulips down the front path

London has been strangely quiet today – no one cutting the grass or having a party nearby.  One of those rare magical days when we can hear every bird singing through the day.  Just lovely.  Feel very fortunate.

These beds are very beautifully flowered and they are beautiful sets. Even the nettles (I think they are??) in front of the water cans mix well with other plants.

Yes Fred there are quite a lot of nettles and the more I pull at them the more they grow so I mainly leave them alone for wildlife. Hooping to attract butterflies with them. Thanks for your kind comment.

Thankyou Linda, the dicentra in the pot, two of them in each pot, was a lucky surprise. I think I planted them in there because I couldn’t think where to put them and they are thrived. Of course there’s nothing to see during the winter in the pot but just now they look fantastic. Table and chairs such a great focal point and we use them every day even in winter. Best wishes.

Oh Thankyou for saying so Hannah. They are Fermob. Bought many years ago from the Conran shop in London. Fermob still sell those chairs in many colours but I haven’t seen the striped ones again but you never know. Hope that helps. Best wishes, julie
