Signs of spring in my cottage garden – January 2019
Daffodils coming up covered with a wire cloche against squirrels.
One bed on the new allotment cleared and covered. Soil underneath lovely and fertile so we are very lucky.
One of several beds on the allotment
Osmanthus shrub flowering and filling the garden with scent
Gorgeous scent from tiny white flowers
Sarcococca flowering and filling the garden with scent.
Sarcococca showing berries and flowers
Blanket of leaves still looking good and healthy.
Gorgeous acer leaves from a neighbour’s tree thrown onto my beds and borders
Just ordered 50 alliums and 50 tulips from Jparkers offering great deals on bulbs. I must be mad! I usually buy my bulbs in May to be delivered in September to plant in November. Now I’m buying them in January but I’m sure they’ll come up in May. Fingers crossed.
Thankyou to the Propagator who hosts this theme of Six on Saturday. Over on his blog you see the offerings from other bloggers. A good 2019 to us all, every one.
